Pomodoro San Marzano
Il pomodoro più buono del Vesuvio
Whole peeled San Marzano tomatoes in their own juice.
Just a few years ago it was threatened with extinction: the tomato variety San Marzano was hardly cultivated anymore. Meanwhile, it is making a comeback and thriving again, thanks also to the commitment of Slow Food, on the fertile volcanic soils at the foot of Vesuvius. This special area and a mild climate, influenced by the sea, characterise the unmistakably aromatic taste, which only develops during canning.
The sun-drenched fruits are treated particularly gently and bring their full aroma to your home.
The cultivation technique and cultivation of the tomatoes respects the centuries-old tradition of the region in handling its tomatoes. Because of their delicate texture, San Marzano tomatoes are not suitable for industrial processing and are laboriously harvested by hand and processed according to traditional recipes. They are gently boiled down in a water bath called "Bagno Maria". San Marzano is recommended by the chefs of the world for the use of sauces, because their aromatic taste is considered unique and they give dishes very high tomato taste. It rewards us with an intensely sunny tomato aroma that had almost been forgotten.
Regardless of the season, with the San Marzano tomato, with protected designation of origin, you get a very fruity and aromatic tomato.
