Turron de Jijona (also called Turron de Xixona) is a typical Spanish Christmas nougat
The Turron de JIjona is made from ground almonds (Marcona) with honey. It is very typical in the province of Alicante, especially Jijona. Turron de Jijona shall be supervised by the regulatory authorities of Jijona and Turron de Alicante to ensure compliance with each of the requirements of this PDO.
The characteristics of this turrón are that the almonds are ground and mixed with honey, which gives it a viscous texture. It is eaten in Spain especially at Christmas with pleasure.
