These Bellota hams from Extremaduras come from pure Iberian pigs that can graze freely in the pastures of Extremadura, a natural paradise in the region of Extremadura.
Extremadura has the largest acorn grazing area in the world, where the largest number of pigs of the pure Iberian breed come from. In these mountains the pigs feed on acorns, grasses, herbs and wild plants during the fattening of acorns, which gives this ham a unique aroma and the special taste of Bellota ham from Extremadura.
In order to remain true to this natural character, this ham has no additives. The ham is produced in the traditional way as it has been for hundreds of years and in the ingredients you will find only meat from Iberian pork and salt.
Bellota hams also require a long maturing period, which is why the maturing period for shoulder hams is around 3 years, and up to 4 years for hams.
It is a product that is produced with a lot of patience, so that the optimal ripening point and thus the highest quality is achieved.
