These Bellota ham from Extremaduras come from pure Iberian pigs that can graze freely in the pastures of Extremadura, a natural paradise in the region of Extremadura.
Extremadura is home to the largest acorn pastureland in the world, where the largest number of pure Iberian pigs come from. In these mountains, the pigs feed on acorns, grasses, herbs and wild plants during the acorn fattening period, which gives this ham a unique aroma and special taste of Extremadura Bellota ham.
To remain true to this natural character, this ham has no additives. The ham is produced in the traditional way as it has been for hundreds of years and the ingredients are only Iberian pork and salt.
The Bellota ham also requires a long maturing period, which is why the ham has a maturing period of approx. 3 years for shoulder ham and up to 4 years for ham.
It is a product that is produced with a lot of patience in order to reach the optimal ripening point and thus the highest quality.
